Terms, conditions & Privacy Policy

All trips are offered subject to Journey Elsewhere standard terms and conditions, which are found on your issued statement of account, on our website here and by request. Please review the terms and conditions carefully prior to completing your reservation. Some of these terms and conditions are set out below to draw your attention to the fact that our obligations to you are limited.

PRICES, RESERVATIONS AND PAYMENT: To reserve your Private trip, we kindly require a deposit of 30% advance payment upfront. This payment is not refundable. Paying the deposit implies you agree to our terms and conditions, therefore please have a careful read beforehand. The balance of your payment is due 40 days prior to departure. This payment is refundable if the cancellation occurs at least one month before the start of the tour. No further refunds are possible past this date. If reserving your trip within 95 days of departure, full payment is required. To complete your reservation, you must sign a Traveller Information Form and an Acknowledgement of Risk, Release and Indemnity, prior to your date of travel with us. These will be sent to you in your booking confirmation email. These forms include additional terms and conditions of travel, including limitations of our obligations to you.
If you would like to modify or cancel your booking, as well as if you have any complaints or questions of any kind, please contact us via email.

TRAVEL INSURANCE: Travel insurance is NOT included in the tour price. We strongly recommend that you arrange your own travel insurance to cover against illness, injury, loss/damage to personal belongings.

CURRENCY: All rates are quoted in EURO, although you can pay in USD, GBP or RON. The parity that we consider is the one provided by The National Romanian Bank (BNR) from the last business day before the date that appears on your invoice; the exchange rate and date will be clearly stated on the final invoice.
When you want to pay in different currencies, please specify this in your communication with us.

TRAVEL DOCUMENTS: We can assist and inform you on matters such as required documentation. To the best of our ability, we can give support with providing answers and information pertaining to immigration, customs and health requirements specific to your country. However, it is your responsibility to obtain information and to have in your possession all the required documentation to travel, (such as passports, visa, criminal record checks where applicable etc.) required by the relevant governmental authorities. Failure to have proper travel documents will result in denied boarding and automatic cancellation of your reservation without refund.

RISKS: All Journey Elsewhere trips are intentionally designed to take clients “off the beaten path” to places where facilities, infrastructure, safety and other standards may not be sophisticated and may be different from those in a traveller’s home country. Trips involve physical activity that can be demanding, depending on the condition of the traveller, and the risk of serious personal injury, including permanent disability and death from accident, illness or the actions or negligence of other persons. Medical facilities and services may not be easily accessible and may not be sophisticated. There are other risks associated with the trips, such as theft or loss of or damage to property. Some of the services provided in connection with the trip, including lodging, transportation, food service, and local tours and activities, are obtained from independent suppliers over whom Journey Elsewhere has no control.

LIMITATION OF RESPONSIBILITY AND DISCLOSURE: Journey Elsewhere is not the source or supplier of the travel services requested, and acts solely as an agent for disclosed principal supplier hotels, bus companies, ground transportation, and other independent contractors providing accommodations, transportation, and/or other services. Each of these companies is an independent entity with its own management, and is not subject to our control.
Because we act as an agent and do not have the right to control the operations of such independent operators and suppliers, you agree Journey Elsewhere is not liable for any personal injury or property damage which may arise out of these services.
Weather conditions, including but not limited to the presence or absence of snow, sunshine, and rainfall are not guaranteed to occur or not occur, and are clearly outside of our control, and we will not assume any responsibility for any air and/or ground schedule changes.
FORCE MAJEURE: “Force Majeure” means, in relation to Journey Elsewhere, any circumstances beyond the reasonable control of Journey Elsewhere, including, but without limitation: acts of God, explosion, flood, tempest, forceful wind, fire or accident, war or threat of war declared or undeclared, acts of terrorism, sabotage, insurrection, riots, strikes, civil disturbance, requisition, sickness, quarantine, government intervention, weather conditions, defects in machinery and vehicles, delay, wildlife, or other untoward occurrences.
We will not be liable, by reason of delay in performance, or by non-performance, of any of our obligations hereunder to the extent that they occur due to any Force Majeure.
If Journey Elsewhere, and/or any of its travel suppliers, are affected by Force Majeure, they can vary or cancel any itinerary or arrangement in relation to the trip. Payment of any refund shall remain in our discretion, although we shall use our reasonable efforts to reimburse you where possible. However, we shall be entitled to deduct from any refund recoverable the actual and potential costs incurred up to that moment.

PRIVACY POLICY: At Journey Elsewhere, we strive to create incredible travel experiences to share with our travel companions. Obviously, the more we know about our travel companions, the better we can customize and improve their experience. As we plan your trip, we will ask you for personal information (some mandatory, some optional); in turn, we promise to protect this information and ensure that it remains confidential. We also promise never to sell your information to anyone.

OUR PROMISE TO YOU: At Journey Elsewhere, we understand the importance of privacy. We treat our travellers as part of our family and carefully protect all the information they have entrusted to us. The information we request from you will enable us to provide you with the highest levels of personal service on every Journey Elsewhere trip. We will not disclose any personal information to any external company or person, except as described above, without a traveller’s informed consent unless we are required by law to do so. With the growth of electronic media, we recognize that it is necessary to take further steps to protect the privacy of the individual. We fully support and comply with all applicable privacy legislation, including Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act and the EU General Data Protection Regulation, to protect the privacy of our travellers, suppliers, contractors and employees. Our role in protecting an individual’s privacy does not stop with these regulatory requirements. We maintain the security and confidentiality of the information disclosed by our travellers according to the strictest standards. We are continually looking for additional ways to ensure that the personal information we hold is secure and used in a responsible and respectful manner. As such, we ensure that the personal information entrusted to us is secure and will not be used for purposes other than what we require to deliver the service our travellers deserve and expect.
